Your guides

fishOur professional guide team is geared to provide excellence in service and tours are designed around you experience be it as a novice or expert fly fisher.

We provide everything you will need from pick up at the Lodge to all quality gear, waders, wet weather coats, gourmet Tasmanian lunch and a Tasmanian inland fishing license. However it will benefit you if you have your own polaroid sun glasses and a hat or we can supply these as well.

The experience

Tasmania is blessed with an abundance of trout and little fishing pressure so this is a unique experience available to the few who venture into the Highlands of Tasmania. A typical day will consist of a .5 to 1 hour drive through rich heritage countryside to the Highlands arriving at the selected water on the day followed by tuition if you need it and a full day of fully guided fishing to some of the thousands of trout available there.

The fishing

Tasmania is world famous for its highlands trout fishing and the many unique fly fishing techniques we use to catch them. The Central Highlands of Tasmania are just a short drive from the Lodge at Bothwell and with over 3000 very shallow trout filled lakes available the possibilities are endless. Experience shore based sight fishing to easily seen trout feeding within meters of the shore in water so shallow the fins are often visible above the surface. Drift wind-lanes during a midge hatch and see trout feeding right in front of you. Experience drift boat fishing during the prolific summer mayfly hatches when a well placed dry fly imitation will usually entice a furious take from the fish. The guide team will introduce you to some or if you have the time all of these experiences.

We look forward to helping you experience this fantastic fishery.
